Ambient sounds & countdown

The right backdrop to focus

Ambient sounds and the countdown ease the transition into focus and mask the distractions around you.

How to do it

  1. 1 When starting a focus session or a routine, pick a background sound (rain, café, brown noise, lo-fi…).
  2. 2 Set the volume to your comfort.
  3. 3 Let the 3-2-1 countdown get you mentally ready before you start.

Tips

  • Brown noise is a favourite of ADHD brains for covering up background noise.
  • You can attach a default sound to a routine.

Related settings

  • Turn ambient sounds on — the master switch for background sounds (Settings → Focus).
  • Default sound and volume — pick the sound played automatically during focus and set its level.
